Watch the New Harley Quinn-Centric 'Birds of Prey' Trailer Featuring Margot Robbie
Warner Bros. has released the first trailer from the highly anticipated Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). The new footage is unsurprisingly heavy on Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, but it does give us several glimpses of the titular Birds of Prey as well as the film’s villains. Check it out above!
Robbie returns to the DCEU as Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey alongside new faces Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Huntress), Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Black Canary), Rosie Perez (Renee Montoya), and Ella Jay Basco (Cassandra Cain). Ewan McGregor and Chris Messina also star as villains Black Mask and Victor Zsasz respectively. Ali Wong (Always Be My Maybe), Robert Catrini (Preacher), Steven Williams (IT) and Derek Wilson (Future Man) round out the supporting cast.
Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) directs the comic book feature from a script by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee), making Yan the first female Asian-American filmmaker to helm a superhero film.
First debuting in 1996, the Birds of Prey are a rotating team of female superheroes typically comprised of Oracle/Batgirl, Huntress, and Black Canary. Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and Katana, portrayed by Karen Fukuhara in Suicide Squad have also featured on the team of anti-heroes. A live-action TV series aired on The WB from 2002-2003 for just 13 episodes. Ashley Scott, who starred as Huntress, is set to reprise her role on The CW’s upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event.
Birds of Prey will swoop into theaters on February 7, 2020.
