The second trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home has released and it contains some massive spoilers from Avengers: Endgame. Avert your eyes if you still haven’t seen the latest MCU entry. Otherwise, enjoy the trailer below.

Now, one of the obvious takeaways here is that Peter and apparently the world is still reeling from the death of Tony Stark. It places something of a somber mood over the trailer until it’s revealed that Tony's sacrifice had an unintended consequence. It tore a hole in the dimension, opening up the world and allowing at least one other world to pass through. Or more specifically, one other Earth. Quentin Beck/Mysterio (portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal) is from that other Earth and it appears he’s here to help.

The major implications of this alternate reality, if true, is that it allows the MCU to expand exponentially. With Disney’s acquisition of Fox, this new multiverse could serve as a backdoor that organically introduces folks like the X-Men and Fantastic Four without requiring too much explanation up front. Not only that, but it also allows Sony to include their non-MCU properties (Venom, Into the Spider-Verse, the upcoming Morbius) in the main MCU reality should the opportunities arise. The Into the Spider-Verse co-producer Chris Miller seems to be flirting with this idea as well.

There’s one big seed of doubt sewn in the trailer though and that’s the presence of Quentin Beck himself. If you’re familiar with the comics, you know that Mysterio’s like to lie. Like a goddamn lot. It’s kinda his whole thing. He’s a villain built on theatrics and deception, so it’s completely possible that Far From Home could pull an about-face on the whole thing and have it all be a clever illusion courtesy of Beck.

Will Far From Home be the film the bridges the gap between the MCU and its counterparts? Or is Mysterio playing everyone? We’ll have to find out when the film is released on July 2. For now, let’s hear your thoughts and speculations in the comments below!
